Fifth-grade students recently embarked on an immersive historical journey exploring the American Revolutionary War. The curriculum featured student-directed performances depicting pivotal events from the era, followed by biographical research projects. Students presented their findings in character, portraying influential figures such as George Washington, Sybil Luddington, Thomas Jefferson, Betsy Ross, and Deboral Sampson. We were honored to welcome parents and community members to this showcase, where students demonstrated their expertise on the foundational events leading to the creation of the U.S. Constitution.

America is turning 250 — and our students have something to say.

Davis School District is hosting Voices of a Nation: Student Perspectives on 250 Years of America, a districtwide speaking event aligned with America 250 Utah.

Students from every school and grade level are invited to apply to deliver an original speech about America’s past, present or future.

Selected students will receive mentorship and take the stage on May 4, 2026, at the Davis Instructional Services Center in Layton. The event will be professionally produced and live streamed for the community.

You don’t have to be famous to have something worth saying.

Take the mic. Share your idea. Be part of the story.

Applications due March 18.

Our top 10 Amazing Shake students had an incredible week! 🌅 We sat down with our Mayor and 2 city council members over breakfast for a powerful round table discussion on youth voices in civic leadership.

Our students didn't just listen—they led the conversation, sharing innovative ideas to bring our community together and make a real impact. 🤝

This is what happens when we empower young leaders to have a seat at the table. The future is bright! ✨

🏰 Medieval Majesty in Mrs. Glover's Classroom! 🏰
Hark! A valiant student in Mrs. Glover's class hath earned a most royal reward—a princess party of legendary proportions!

The kingdom was brought to life as brave knights and fair maidens graced the halls in full medieval splendor. Crowns were worn, swords were wielded (in jest, of course!), and the spirit of chivalry filled the air. 'Twas a day of merriment and pageantry most fitting for such an accomplished scholar!

Long may this triumph be remembered in our noble classroom! ⚔️👑✨

Lakeside Elementary — Amazing Shake: Round 1 Recap

Earlier this week, Lakeside Elementary hosted Round 1 of the Amazing Shake for grades 4–6! Students practiced professional conversational skills by “working the room”: introducing themselves to community volunteers and leaders, making connections, and carrying on thoughtful conversations. Community judges evaluated poise, communication, and engagement.

Congratulations to our Round 1 winners — they’ll advance to Round 2 next week. Huge thanks to the community volunteers and leaders who served as judges and role models.

Way to represent, Lakeside — we’re proud of every student who participated!

Lakeside Student Council helped make the PTA Family Dance Party a huge success by staffing the food table—serving hotdogs and handing out chips with friendly smiles—and running the glow booth, selling glow necklaces, rings, glasses, and glow sticks that turned the gym into a glowing dance floor. Huge thanks to our PTA parents and student leaders for their energy, teamwork, and school spirit; families had a blast! ✨🕺🌭
