Layton High School Principal Corby Eason and Athletic Director Brian Berrong

Layton High School has been recognized with the Utah Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (UIAAA) 6A Director's Cup for the 2025-2026 school year.

The Director's Cup is an annual award which has existed for 16 years, and this year's award is the first time a Davis School District school has received it.

The UIAAA designed the award to be more than athletic performance. The cup recognizes comprehensive school excellence across three pillars:

  • Athletics (40%): Calculated by a school team's final finishing position in official Utah High School Activities Association State Tournaments.

  • Academics (40%): Based on the cumulative overall GPA of varsity athletic teams.

  • Sportsmanship & Leadership (20%): Evaluated by a school's active participation in state-sponsored student-leadership and sportsmanship initiatives.

"This award demonstrates the appreciation for what everyone has done collectively," said Layton High School Athletic Director Brian Berrong. "Everyone did their part. Everyone lifted where they were and made a difference."
