Graduation Information for the Class of 2024

Graduation will be on Friday May 24th, 2024 at 8am at the Dee Events Center at Weber State University. All students must be cleared by their counselor to graduate.


Important Dates:

April 18th: Senior Meeting/ Panoramic Picture - Meeting will be DURING STAND.

  • We will go over all the information that seniors should know before graduation. You will also be added to the graduation canvas course which has important information about graduation.

April 25: Graduation Speeches and Program Artwork due

  • If you have written a speech or are submitting artwork for the program, this is the day to submit for consideration. NO EXCEPTIONS.

May 3rd: Credit Deadline for Seniors to be pre-cleared for graduation

May 3rdSenior exit surveys and citizenship test must be completed by this day

May 14th: Golden Ticket Day

  • Senior will receive their golden tickets. Every line on the golden ticket must be signed to be cleared to graduate. This ticket will allow you to get your cap and gown if everything is signed off. You CANNOT get your cap and gown without this completed ticket.

May 15th: Senior Recognition Assembly

  • We will award and announce scholarships, CTE certification, and Legion awards

May 20th: Laptop check in, Graduation Practice, Cap and Gown Distribution after Graduation Practice

May 21st: Senior sunset/ Cotillion/ Assembly/ Yearbooks for Seniors

May 22nd: Yearbooks for 10th and 11th graders

May 23rd: 10:00 AM is the deadline to turn in golden tickets to be able to walk for graduation

May 24th: GRADUATION!!!

  • Student will need to arrive at the Dee Event Center at 7:00 AM. Graduation will be at 8 AM. Senior Bash will be that night at Boondocks.

 


Cap and Gown Orders

All students who have met graduation requirements and want to participate in the graduation ceremony must order a cap and gown from Jostens.

Academic Honors Recognition

 


4.0 Recognition

  • Any student who has maintained a 4.0 GPA from their 9th grade year through their 12th grade year. 

 


Perfect Attendance

  • For students who do not have an absence in any class from their 9th grade year to their 12th grade year. Advisory classes are included in the tracking of attendance. 

 


Seal of Biliteracy

The USBE’s Seal of Biliteracy certifies attainment of a high level of proficiency by a graduating high school student in one or more languages in addition to English, and certifies that the graduate meets all of the following criteria:

A. The USBE’s Seal of Biliteracy will be awarded to students who earn a Utah high school diploma and be proficient in English and at least one world language other than English, at the intermediate-mid level or higher, as demonstrated through an assessment from a list to be approved by the Superintendent of Public Instruction.

B. For purposes of this form, "world language" means a language other than English and includes American Sign Language and American Native Languages (Navajo, Ute, etc.)

Lancer Legion Pathway Award

  • Applications will be posted outside of the counseling center the beginning of March.    

  • Applications are due to the counseling center by the end of March. ​

  • Qualifying applicants will receive a Layton High School Medallion plus a pin for the Lancer Legion Career Cluster their pathway fits under. Pins may also be received for other LHS recognitions.​

  • The medal, with attached pins, may be worn with the graduation robe at LHS Senior Graduation.​
